Team Member Spotlight… Interior Designer, Alisa Gasz!

Categories: Team Member Spotlight | Posted: May 26, 2017

We’ve decided to start a series of blogs we’re calling “Team Member Spotlight”. These blogs will be a chance for you to learn a bit more about the incredible people who are helping create your new Forbes Capretto home!

First up, Interior Designer, Alisa Gasz. She’s been a member of the Forbes Capretto team for 11 years. And as the Interior Designer in our Design Center, Alisa’s goal is to take a new home and make it an extension of each client’s personality from the ground up. “My favorite part of the job is working with each client and utilizing my knowledge, experiences and creativity to bring their dreams and concepts into reality,” says Alisa. “I take great pride in seeing the joy and happiness in each of my clients when they finally take ownership of their new dream home.”

How do you approach your job as an interior designer?

I work with each client, reviewing each phase of the construction process of their new home. This begins with exterior design and landscaping, and ends with the interior components. I listen to their ideas, and work with them in a fun and enjoyable fashion to help them with every phase of the design process. We start with the exterior, windows, entry doors, roofing materials and colors, as well as the landscaping. Then, we move to the interior, picking countertops, wall and flooring color palettes, cabinet choices, flooring materials (wood, ceramic or carpeting), lighting fixtures, hardware and accessories.

What’s at the top of your work-related “bucket list”?

I would love to see the Buffalo area continue to grow, and develop the downtown / inner harbor areas. This would lead to an opportunity to create amazing high-end loft apartments/condominiums, hotels, and points of interest. And we would be able to bring our custom design concepts to the table!

What’s on your personal bucket list?

I would like to visit each and every Major League Baseball stadium across our great country.

What’s your greatest personal achievement?

While completing my degree in Interior Design at Buffalo State College, I was also working with a small design firm to perfect the skills that have led me to a successful career here at Forbes Capretto Custom Homes.

How To Choose The Right Community For Your Family

Categories: Blog, Tips | Posted: May 24, 2017

Choosing where you want to live is one of the most important decisions in finding a new home that’s right for you. Your new home search has a number of factors to consider in order to make a decision, but we’re here to make each one a little easier. Use this checklist as you decide on the right community for your family.

Location
What will your new commute be like? How far are the kids’ schools? Are all your necessary conveniences actually convenient to get to? Research the communities in the general area you’re looking to live, and narrow your list down by their distance to the things that are important to your family. With 14 different communities in the Western New York area, you can find a home that puts you closer to where you need to be, so you have more time to do the things you love.

Interests

Hitting the town for special date nights, getting some exercise in the park or a much deserved round of golf at the country club… how do you like to spend your free time? Choosing the right community isn’t just about being close to the things you HAVE to do, but the ones you WANT to do too! Check out the dining, restaurants and entertainment in the surrounding area. All of our communities allow you to stay close to Downtown Buffalo, while enjoying their own unique shopping, park systems and attractions within minutes.

Product/Value
We have floor plans and home styles for every type of homeowner. Looking for single level living? Check out our Cambria or Brookshire plans. Or do you require room for your growing family? Tour our Chatham or Dorchester. Decide how much space you’ll need and how much home you can afford. Do you need additional features like an in-law suite or home office? Make a list of all the things your dream home has, and let us work with you to find the right one; no matter what your budget.

Atmosphere/Feel

The feel of a neighborhood can determine the type of environment you want to live. Does the community provide amenities that your family can enjoy together? Is the area safe for your kids? Does the natural surrounding or lot sizes give you the privacy you want? Our communities have a variety of different feels between spacious, private home sites, peaceful cul-de-sacs, scenic landscapes and more.

Neighbors

Does your ideal community have a close-knit group of neighbors or does it give you your space? Will your kids have other kids to play with and will you have someone to share carpools? Or maybe just having a companion for morning walks is important to you. Visit our communities, and contact us to find the right place for you, no matter what stage of life you’re in.

Schools

Check out the school district and any private schools nearby to see what kind of education your kids will receive. Do they offer any honors/gifted/special ed programs or provide counseling services? Make sure your home is located in an area that can provide the resources your children need. Our communities in Clarence and throughout Western New York are located in close proximity to top-rated schools and educational facilities.

Trust Your Instincts
Final decision time isn’t always easy, especially when you have so many great options right within the Greater Buffalo area. Make a list of pros and cons and rank every quality based on their importance. Go with your gut. If your instincts are saying this is the right place, then it’s probably exactly what you’re looking for!

Choosing your new home is all about what truly matters to you. Not everyone wants or needs the same things, so figuring out what’s important to you and your family is the best way to narrow down your options to find a community you’ll love for years to come. With such a diverse selection of high-end homes and neighborhoods within Western New York, the first step to finding your perfect fit is contacting us to learn more!
